You are trying to upload a file and you get an error: "PDF Document Size too large". Does this mean your pages are too big (dimensions), or your file is too heavy (storage)? In this guide to PDF Document Size, we clear up the confusion.
Type 1: Storage Size (KB/MB)
90% of the time, "Document Size" refers to how much space the file takes on a disk. If a portal says "Max Size 2MB", they are talking about storage.
Solution: Use our Document Size Reducer. It compresses images to lower the MB count without touching the page dimensions.
Type 2: Page Dimensions (A4/Letter)
Sometimes, "Document Size" refers to the physical paper size. For example, a legal contract might require "US Legal" size instead of "A4".
Solution: If you need to change the physical size, use our Resize PDF tool to scale the pages.
How to Check your Document Size
On Windows: Right-click -> Properties.
On Mac: Cmd+I (Get Info).
